Scottish WWR paddlers performed exceptionally well at the Senior Worlds in Banja Luka last week.
The Wild Water World Championships took place over 20-23 May on the picturesque Vrbas river in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The four day championship event played host to classic and sprint races. The events required paddlers to navigate the infamous Tjesno Canyon. Despite inconsistent river levels in the lead up to the event the whole British team put in an excellent effort battling the towering waves and violent eddy lines buried in the depths of the canyon.
The team demonstrated fantastic performances all around, with some particular highlights being:
Freya Pryce - 6th in Women’s K1 Individual
C2 Men’s Team - 3rd in the Classic - Phil Dean and Jacob Holmes
C1 Sprint Team - 3rd - Laura Milne and Vicky Murray
C2 Women's Sprint - 8th - Ada Czarnecka and Victoria Murray
K1 Men's Sprint Team - 6th - Adam Knox
C2 Men’s Sprint Team - 2nd - Jacob Holmes and Phill Dean - highest ever medal position of any C2 team!
K1 Classic Team - a very close 4th, 1.2s down on 3rd
