ACCESS FOR MEMBERS
Members of Paddle Scotland have the benefit of access to the Grandtully Slalom Site, Stanley Gate and Glen Etive Tributaries.
Grandtully Slalom Site
The Grandtully Slalom Site consists of slalom gates across a section of grade 2(3) whitewater on the River Tay between the villages of Grandtully and Strathtay. Paddle Scotland holds a lease agreement with the landowner in order to operate the slalom infrastructure.
The Grandtully slalom gates and infrastructure may only be utilised by paddlers who are registered individual members of Paddle Scotland (Full, Junior or Recreational) or one of the other Home Nations (Paddle England, Paddle Cymru or Paddle Northern Ireland) and follow the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. This includes coaches or others involved in sessions which make use of the Grandtully slalom gates.
Paddlers on the river who are not involved in slalom paddling are not required to register and may access the river under existing access rights.
Please take the time to read the Grandtully Slalom Site - Terms of Use here (updated September 2025).
Check in to the Grandtully Slalom Site through JustGo. If you have any issues, try our 'How to Check In' guide here.
Please remember checking in in advance is a condition of the Terms of Use.
Parking for the Grandtully Slalom Site:
For those paddling at Grandtully, parking is available at Grandtully Station Park (GSP). Paddlers can choose to pay for an annual pass or day rate parking. The annual pass is the best value if you intend to paddle reguarly, providing access to the Grandtully day use facilities every day of the year. Find more information on parking passes here.
Events using the Grandtully Slalom Site:
During Divisional Slalom Competitions and other Paddle Scotland Championship events, event organisers will pay a central facility fee for GSP use and check in all users of the Slalom site. Therefore during the days of the competition, as agreed between event organisers and Paddle Scotland and publicised for each specific event, individuals will not be required to have individually paid for GSP parking or checked in to use the site.
Stanley Gate
Paddle Scotland members enjoy exclusive access to the code for the gate at Stanley used to access the River Tay as a membership benefit. The code is only available for individual Paddle Scotland members through an agreement between Paddle Scotland and the landowner. We kindly ask you to please be respectful to the landowner and not put this arrangement at risk by sharing the code with anyone who is not a member.
The code will be issued by email immediately once members
register to receive the code through the JustGo system. The code will be changed on a regular basis. We ask that you do not request the code more than 7 days ahead. If you are visiting as a group, only one person needs to request the code, but please do not share the code beyond the group.
Glen Etive Tributaries
Paddle Scotland members benefit from access to four control boxes at Glen Etive to provide additional water to flow downstream and facilitate paddling activities. This system can be used up to 21 hours in a week, thereafter the system won't be available until it resets for the following week. To find out the current code, please register to receive the code through the JustGo system.
Please do not share this code with others and ensure the gate is locked at all times before and after use.
