Paddle Scotland is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board Directors, Ailey Ross and Laura MacAulay, who will both support the organisation’s Marketing, Communications and Commercial ambitions.
Alongside this, Paddle Scotland bids a fond farewell to outgoing Board Director Andy Dorin, who stepped down from the Board as well as the Access and Environment Group earlier this month. Andy has been a key figure on the Board in the last three years and ensured concerns related to the environment and access were given full consideration at Executive and Board level. We wish Andy all the best with his future endeavours.
New Director
Ailey Ross brings more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, communications and creative leadership, alongside a strong and active involvement in paddlesport through her daughter. Ailey has led a successful creative business and now lectures in digital media. Her extensive experience in developing marketing strategies, building commercial partnerships and delivering multi-channel campaigns will bring valuable strategic insight and commercial expertise to the Board.

Speaking on her appointment, Ailey says:
“Having been actively involved in paddlesport through my family, I am passionate about enhancing Paddle Scotland’s profile and delivering strong marketing strategies that will support the continued growth of the sport across Scotland.”
Joining alongside Ailey is
Laura MacAulay, who has more than two decades of strategic leadership experience across higher education, the public sector and not-for-profit environments. Through her role at the University of Strathclyde, Laura has led multi-disciplinary teams, overseen complex budgets and delivered evidence-based marketing and recruitment strategies to drive organisational growth and cultural change. Her governance experience includes strategic planning, risk management and performance evaluation. Laura is also a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and brings extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and strategic communication, alongside a personal passion for paddlesport and outdoor activity.
Speaking on her appointment, Laura says:
“I’m delighted to join the Paddle Scotland Board and contribute to the growth and future of paddlesport in Scotland. I’m genuinely enthused by the work already underway and look forward to playing my part alongside the inspiring people who are driving the organisation and sport forward.”

Chair of Paddle Scotland, Alison Byers, welcomed the appointments:
“We are thrilled to welcome both Ailey and Laura to the Board. They each bring a wealth of experience, fresh perspectives and a shared passion for paddlesport that will strengthen our work across marketing, communications and commercial development. Their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow participation, enhance our profile and deliver on our strategic ambitions for paddlesport in Scotland.”
These appointments mark an exciting step forward for Paddle Scotland as it continues to build a diverse and skilled Board to support the future development of the sport nationwide.
