This week, Paddle UK posted an article celebrating a landmark achievement in gender equality as this year they presented their first 50/50 gender-balanced coaching team at international championship events.
2026 marked a landmark moment in equality and representation within paddlesport in the UK. Paddle UK featured a 50/50 gender split across its coaching staff at both the Junior & U23 Slalom World Championships in Krakow and the European Championships in Épinal.
Scottish Representation Within the Team
Paddle Scotland is exceptionally proud to share that our very own Maddy Jennings (Talent Transition Coach) formed a key part of this groundbreaking coaching line-up.
Working alongside our colleagues from Paddle UK and Paddle Cymru, Maddy supported performance athletes on the world stage in both Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross. Her presence in Krakow and Epinal highlighted the vital role Scottish coaches play in shaping the future of elite paddlesport.

Inspiring the Next Generation (#SheCoaches)
This milestone was an important step forward for the #SheCoaches movement and gender equality across all levels of coaching. We hope that seeing women leading on the bank at such important events inspires our local clubs, volunteers and aspiring leaders across Scotland.
