Paddle Scotland is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Emmott as the latest volunteer to join the Paddle Scotland Board of Directors as Non-Executive Director of Finance.
Robert is a CIPFA qualified accountant who brings extensive financial leadership experience from a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years in public service and since 2005 has served as Chief Finance Officer in local government.
Robert’s connection with paddlesport began at a Scout camp in North Wales, but it was after moving to Lewis and joining Stornoway Canoe Club that his passion for sea kayaking truly developed. Now based in Glasgow, he remains actively involved in the paddling community as both a club paddler and coach.
Paddle Scotland Chair Alison Byers said:
"We are delighted to welcome Robert to the Paddle Scotland Board. His extensive experience in financial leadership, governance and strategic planning will be a tremendous asset to the organisation as we continue to develop paddlesport across Scotland. Equally important is Robert’s strong connection to our sport as an active paddler and coach, bringing valuable insight into the experiences and aspirations of our paddling community."
Speaking about his appointment, Robert said:
"Paddlesport has been an important part of my life for many years and I am honoured to join the Paddle Scotland Board in this voluntary capacity. I look forward to supporting the organisation's continued development and helping ensure a strong, safe and sustainable future for paddling in Scotland."
Paddle Scotland looks forward to benefiting from Robert’s expertise and enthusiasm as it continues to support, inspire and grow participation in paddlesport across Scotland.
