Paddle Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Strang as our new Chief Executive Officer, with Mike due to begin in post in mid-June.

Mike brings strong leadership experience, leaving his current role as CEO of Youth Scotland, combined with a background in outdoor learning and development and a longstanding connection to paddlesport and the wider outdoor community.
His appointment marks another step forward for Paddle Scotland as we continue to strengthen the organisation for the long term.
Following a recruitment process carried out late last year, Mike emerged as the standout candidate for the role.
Alison Byers, Chair of Paddle Scotland, said:
“Following a recruitment process late last year, while it has taken some time to finalise, we are delighted to have secured our preferred candidate in Mike.
Mike brings a strong mix of leadership experience, sector understanding and a genuine connection to paddlesport and the outdoors. We are looking forward to welcoming him to Paddle Scotland and to working with him as we continue to support and develop paddlesport across Scotland.”
Mike commented:
“I’m really pleased to be joining Paddle Scotland at such an important and exciting time for the organisation.
Paddling offers so much - from adventure and challenge to wellbeing, connection and community - and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and the wider paddling community to help create even more opportunities for people across Scotland to get involved, enjoy and excel on the water.
Paddle Scotland already has a huge amount to be proud of, and I’m excited to be part of what comes next.”
Mike will take up the post in mid-June, working with the staff team, Board, volunteers, members, clubs, partners and the wider paddling community to help shape the next phase of Paddle Scotland’s work.
