Announcement: Athlete of the Year Finalists
15 January 2026

We are thrilled to announce the finalists in the next category of the Recognition Awards: Athlete of the Year.

A new award this year, this celebrates a Performance Athlete who has taken great strides in their development and/or achieved great things over the year.

Hope Gordon is Scotland's pioneering para athlete: a Paralympic silver medallist, double Paralympic competitor, World Champ & Vice World Champ - not only is her list of recent accomplishments outstanding, she has done so much to inspire young para-athletes to get into sport.

Jennifer Ng-Armstrong competed at the ICF Stand Up Paddleboard World Championships in Abu Dhabi in 2025, coming 8th in the world in Sprint in her age category and fighting it out in Tech race finals despite serious injury. She is also inspiring the next generation of SUP racers by starting the Water Sports Academy.

In 2025, Gilbert Speirs won the "Triple Crown" in K1 Marathon for his age group, coming first in the UK, European, and World Marathon Championships - an incredible feat. Added to these wins were competitive results in K2 at the same international competitions, along with numerous wins at various Scottish races in marathon and surfski.

Finalists and winners will be celebrated on Friday 30 January - tickets are now available to join us for the Recognition Awards celebration for £10/£30.

Awards Celebration

We will celebrate finalists and winners together on Friday 30 January 2026 with an in-person dinner, prize giving and ceilidh at Stirling Court Hotel.

Tickets for the Awards Celebration can be purchased in advance through JustGo. Tickets are available with or without the dinner. This is
not a traditional black tie awards ceremony - dress in whatever you're comfortable in!

We look forward to celebrating the inspiring people of paddlesport together!
