Hope Gordon and Emma Wiggs MBE both took gold on the final day of action at the IFC Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cup in Montreal.

Wiggs was first to finish in the women's VL2 200m, as she led from beginning to end in a dominant performance to add to the KL2 200m silver she won on Saturday.

It was a similar story for Gordon, who was similarly in command to win gold in the women's VL3 200m by over three seconds.

It marked Gordon's second gold of the weekend, after she took top spot in the KL3 200m on Saturday.

Wiggs said: “I just love this sport so much, I think it brings the best out of all of us. I think it shows that if you use the bits that work, you can do incredible things. I am just so grateful to still be here alongside some phenomenal paddlers.

“The crowd have been amazing. It's fantastic to be on a different continent racing. I am just really pleased.”

In the women's K1 200m A final, Deborah Kerr finished ninth in 40.49s while Emily Lewis took second in the B final in 41.22s.

Earlier in the World Cup, the women’s K4 soared to a brilliant sixth-place finish in their first A Final of the season.

The quartet of Emily Lewis, Zoe Clark, Deborah Kerr and Kristina Armstrong had finally made the step up to the top nine after back-to-back B Final wins at the last two World Cups.

They sealed their spot with a third-place finish in their semi-final on the opening day of competition and. with a strong performance in Canada, the British boat crossed the line in sixth in a time of 1:35.94.

The K4 athletes started strong in the outside lane as the rest of the pack battled for positions but they ultimately missed out on a medal by 0.51s, less than two seconds off winners China.
