Scottish Athletes Set to Race at World Championships & Olympic Hopes Regattas

July 6, 2023

After a weekend of tough conditions at the National Watersports Centre in Holme Pierrepont several Scottish athletes have secured their places on GB teams for major championships in 2023.

Deborah Kerr and Lewis Fletcher continued their impressive form in their events with Deborah selected to the K4 and K2 500m events whilst Lewis will be focusing on the K1 200m race, looking forward to a first Senior World Championship A final. Deborah's races will also involve Olympic Selection, where she will be hoping to back up her qualifying performances for the 2020 Olympics to once again secure a spot for GB at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The next generation of Scottish Sprint kayakers were also out in force with strong performances across the board at the Holme Pierrepont. Hannah Toovey and Iona Patrick held their nerve in the Olympic Hopes selection races to both qualify spaces for this competition from the 7th to 10th of September in Poznan, Poland.
